What should we do if the pet got sick during vacation?

It is of real fun if you carry your pet for a vacation. It would be a break to your monotonous life as well as, of your pet. However, before going out for the trip, you must consult your veterinarian on your pet’s health and get it assured by him whether your pet is in a proper condition to take up the hecticness associated with the tour. Now in many cases, it is found that even after a proper check up, pets fall sick while travelling. It is a very natural matter for the pet lovers to panic, but if you are well acquainted with the things you should have to tackle such cases, then you can avoid the state of agony. We will be discussing about those things in detail.

Before we get into the remedies, let us talk about the dangers that can arise while travelling. Your pet may get bitten by a snake or other venomous insects. It may get electrocuted just by urinating or standing near a power pole. It may get attacked by other wild animals. Your pet may get allergic reactions to something, on being exposed to a new environment. It may also confront accidents like being knocked down by a vehicle, etc. Many of the dangers can be averted if you stay aware enough. However, precautions are better then cure, so you must have some preparations and carry few important things before moving out with your pooch.

To start with, the first and the foremost thing you should have at your reach, while travelling with your pet, is a Good First-Aid Kit. This is something indispensable, as far as, a long tour is concerned. It will help you in tackling minor cuts, splinters and stomach upset. You have to devote some time in getting familiar to the various first-aid tools and their utilisation. The next thing you should have is your pet’s medical records. They are of great help in case of an emergency. While in a hurry, please do not forget to carry your pet’s medicines and other medications, if your pet needs them on a regular basis. You may find yourself in a helpless situation, if you discover in the middle of the trip that you have left behind the medicines which your pet needs daily. Having your veterinarian’s contact number and fax number, is also a good idea as the attending veterinarian may want to call up the former with relevant information’s about your pet. Providing them with the necessary contact details would help them to focus their attention on your pet’s care. When you fix your tour-destination, it would be a brilliant idea if you take an initiative to find out how far the environment is pet friendly. In this regard, the most important thing which you should look out for is a veterinary hospitals and medicine centre in the vicinity of your sojourn. You may also do some research on the local flora and fauna to find out if they would be dangerous to your pet.
